Description: This webinar will discuss the grounds for the EPO’s recent decision to refuse two applications designating an AI system as the inventor.
These applications are the first the EPO has ever received in which the inventor named is a machine, and they were refused by the Receiving Section in oral proceedings on 25 November 2019 on the grounds that they do not meet the EPC requirement that the inventor named has to be a human being.
This webinar will explain these decisions in detail, look at the underlying legal principles, and discuss the decisions’ potential legal impact.
