Join the Regional Seminar “Public Health and Intellectual Property - Current Issues, Needs and Solutions”, where representatives of various industry sectors will be discussing the main current issues and challenges in the field of intellectual property and health sector. The seminar will take place on the World Intellectual Property Day – April 26 2022.

The aim of the seminar is to look at the main current issues and challenges in the field of intellectual property and health sector, with a special emphasis on understanding the current needs and problems of the respective sector and intellectual property as a tool that can help solve them.

We have invited distinguished speakers from the WIPO, the EPO, the EUIPO and the Netherlands Patent Office. The invited speakers will share their knowledge and provide insights into such topics as (see more in agenda attached):  

  • IP and Public Health: Issues and Challenges;
  • Recent EPO developments concerning patent applications in the health sector;
  • Recent developments in supplementary protection certificates;
  • Counterfeit Pharmaceutical Products – risks, consequences, and challenges.

The seminar will be held in Latvian and English, simultaneous translation will be provided.

The Regional Seminar is organized by the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia in close cooperation with the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and with the support of the European Patent Office (EPO) and the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
