On Thursday, 27 April, the winners of the competition "Trademark of the Year 2022" were announced. In the nomination "Trademark of the Year - for Latvia" the 1st place won the trademark "woowooll" owned by SIA "LIGNEX", while in the nomination "Trademark of the Year - for the World" the highest award received the trademark "SILVANOLS - created by nature, perfected by science" of SIA "SILVANOLS".
In the nomination "Trademark of the Year - for Latvia", for which 41 trademarks were applied, the 2nd place was won by SIA "ELVI Latvija" for the trademark "elvi PAR SAVEJIEM!", and the 3rd place – by SIA "DeskTime" for the trademark with the same name. During the ceremony, the competition organizers also presented their sympathy awards. The Patent Office presented a diploma to SIA "DORMERS" for the trademark "OAK'A BBQ HANDMADE IN LATVIA", the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) - to the University of Latvia for the trademark "ICEBREAKERS", and the Latvian Designers’ Society – to SIA "DVX” for the trademark “SEMIGALLS”. The trademark "woowooll" of SIA "LIGNEX" received another recognition – a special prize of the Latvian National Group of the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI).
In the nomination "Trademark of the Year - for the World", for which 19 applications were received, the 2nd place was won by the trademark "Rasēns" of AS "RĪGAS PIENA KOMBINĀTS", while the 3rd place and the LCCI sympathy award went to the trademark "Dzintars WHITE AMBER EAU DE PARFUM” of SIA "H.A.Brieger". In its turn, the Patent Office presented its sympathy award to the trademark "goRespiro" of SIA "SILVANOLS".
Director of the Patent Office Agris Batalauskis: "There are many brave people and companies in Latvia that are not afraid to dare and create something new and unprecedented, to invest their time and finances in innovation. We also have many companies whose contribution to the growth and competitiveness of the national economy is undoubtable, and they are still able to surprise us with newly created things. At the same time, they are responsible people who have taken care of the legal protection of their trademarks. These are precisely the companies that Latvia needs, and they are the basis of our country's development."
"In my opinion, the synergy between the company and the client is hidden in trademark design, where creativity meets skill, resulting in the creation of an unparalleled trademark that affects consumer emotions and manifests itself as passion for the product, and communicates with the user," Kristiāna Kazarjana, Chairperson of the Board of the Latvian Designers' Society, shared her thoughts.
"I am really pleased to host the awards ceremony of the competition "Trademark of Year 2022" at the House of Entrepreneurs to honour the competition finalists and highlight their contribution to the development and competitiveness of our country. Intellectual property is important not only for entrepreneurs themselves, but also for the Latvian economy. Those who have done their homework and registered trademarks have a much higher level of legal protection than those who rely on luck," noted Jānis Endziņš, Chairman of the LCCI Board.
During the event, the intellectual property award "VISIONARS" was presented for the first time. It was awarded to a robotics company "AERONES ENGINEERING", thus highlighting and appreciating the company's constant efforts to move towards the set goals.
The competition "Trademark of the Year 2022" has been organized for the tenth year by the Patent Office in cooperation with the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Latvian Designers' Society.
