Rīgas Dzemdību nams – a trademark known all over Latvia
The Riga Maternity Hospital is known probably throughout Latvia, because it is the place where a third of babies born in Latvia are delivered. Medical assistance has been provided in the Miera Street building since the beginning of the 20th century, and since 1947 the institution has been operating as the Riga Maternity Hospital. The Rīgas Dzemdību nams trademark of the Riga Maternity Hospital reflects both its field of activity and the location.
Santa Markova, Chair of the Board of the Riga Maternity Hospital, describes the brand’s strength: “It is the safety of services, experienced staff, and modern technologies.” She adds that over the years, as pregnancy care and the concept of childbirth assistance have radically developed, the Riga Maternity Hospital has always been a pioneer in introducing change.

LIVLY – a trademark that reflects femininity and natural beauty
The name of the LIVLY beauty care company, which is a registered trademark, has been carefully created, inspired by three significant words. It includes the name of the company’s owner, Līva, as well as two English words – “lovely” and “lively”. The combination of these words symbolizes femininity, liveliness, sincerity, and natural beauty – the values that are the basis of the company’s philosophy and daily work.
“LIVLY is not just a brand - it is a lifestyle philosophy that invites women to love themselves, take care of their well-being, and highlight the uniqueness of each of them. The name carries the feeling of lightness, warmth, and confidence, and it is exactly what the team seeks to provide to its clients,” says Līva Goba, co-owner of the company.
The procedure for The Trademark of the Year award is organized in two stages. First, once a quarter, experienced LPO experts select four trademarks in the Trademark of the Year for Latvia nomination and four trademarks - in the Trademark of the Year for the European Union nomination, which are further forwarded for the second evaluation stage. The winner of the Trademark of the Year award is determined among 16 trademarks registered with the LPO under the national procedure and 16 trademarks registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office.
