Cits Bazārs pavasarī 2026 uzvarētāji

On 7 March, at Domina Shopping mall, the Latvian Patent Office (LPO) presented awards to student enterprises in the category “Knowledge-Based Product/ Service”, following the conclusion of the student entrepreneurship fair “CITS BAZĀRS pavasarī 2026” (Another Bazaar in Spring 2026), organised by Junior Achievement (JA) Latvia. The awards were presented to students whose work stood out with technically thought out, innovationdriven and practically applicable solutions.

The LPO was represented on the jury by Ilze Grava, Director of the Development and International Cooperation Department, and Karīna Trifonova, Leading Expert at the Trademarks and Designs Department.

In the primary school group, the LPO awarded the student enterprise “Smart Garden” from Jelgava Secondary School No. 5 for their microgreens cultivation system with LED lighting and WiFi control. The solution demonstrated the students’ ability to combine modern technologies with practical everyday application and sustainable thinking.

In the secondary school group, the winner was the student enterprise “PLIX” from Riga State Technical School that developed a compact device for recycling plastic to produce various products. The jury appreciated the students’ contribution to the circular economy and the technically sophisticated mechanism that enables plastic waste to be given new value.

From more than 450 applications, 270 student enterprises were selected for the participation in “CITS BAZĀRS pavasarī 2026” to present their products and services over the course of one day, developing entrepreneurial skills, communication abilities and an understanding of a real market environment.
