How a meeting in Spain inspired the name – Tarragon

The Pelegrin company manufactures two-seater aircraft, and it was a meeting with designers in the Spanish city of Tarragon that inspired the name of the aircraft trademark “Tarragon”. Although the idea of the name came about by chance, it appealed to both the founders of the company and the employees, because the name is easy to remember and is associated with a strong message of courage and dynamism.

“The name of the aircraft Tarragon means freedom – the ability to fly with great speed and ease, while maintaining elegance and style. It symbolizes our desire to create aircraft that are not only a means of transportation for their owners, but also provide a unique flying experience,” explains the company’s owner and pilot Aivars Lejietis.

The procedure for the LPO’s Trademark of the Year award is organized in two stages. First, once a quarter, experienced LPO experts select four trademarks in the Trademark of the Year for Latvia nomination and four trademarks – in the Trademark of the Year for the European Union nomination that are further forwarded for the second evaluation stage. The winner of the Trademark of the Year 2025 award will be determined among 16 trademarks registered with the LPO under the national procedure and 16 trademarks registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
