On May 16, 2017, the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia together with the State Revenue Services (SRS) National Customs Board and the State`s Police Economic Crime Enforcement Department organized a seminar on “The Latest Trends in Counterfeiting and Piracy” for the second year in a row. As the issue becomes more pronounced, state institutions involved in the fight against counterfeiting and piracy exchanged the latest information on intellectual property rights infringements.
On 26 April 2017, more than 100 countries all over the world celebrated World Intellectual Property Day. With the aim of drawing public attention to the issue of protecting intellectual property rights, the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia (LPO) organized, in cooperation with the leading intellectual property offices, an international seminar on the protection and enforcement of intellectual property rights (IPRs).
On 26 April 2017, World Intellectual Property Day, an awards ceremony of the annual competition “Trademark of the Year 2016” was held honouring the owners of the best trademarks registered in the previous year. Awards were presented in two categories – “Trademark for Latvia 2016” and “Trademark for the World 2016”.
