Having evaluated trademarks registered by Latvian applicants in Latvia and the European Union in the third quarter 2025, an expert committee of the Latvian Patent Office (LPO) selected the next eight candidates for the main prize of the Trademark of the Year 2025 award. With a series of publications, we are introducing the companies – owners of creative, expressive and strong trademarks that are the candidates for the main prize in various nomination categories.
Nomination: Trademark of the Year for Latvia
Category: Figurative Marks
A symbol of movement, speed and modernity - Pasts
To follow customer trends, Latvijas Pasts (Latvian Post), a state-owned joint-stock company, has introduced changes to its visual identity. Its logo, symbol and brand name have become more concise to reflect how its customers perceive and call the brand in everyday life – Post. This name also demonstrates the positioning of Latvijas Pasts as a global logistics company, where the word "post" clearly indicates the specific industry.
Latvijas Pasts is not a place just for sending letters or subscribing to newspapers or magazines – its operations include postal, logistics and financial services. The company specializes in domestic and international deliveries – from e-commerce and parcel shipments to press subscriptions, letter service, and personalised logistics solutions.
"The new symbol – a birdie – reflects movement, speed and modernity. It is a messenger of good news, and at the same time it is an expression of our respect for old postal traditions. The pink colour in the new brand image has been chosen consciously, as it symbolizes dynamism, innovation and customer friendliness. It helps the company stand out and create a modern, open and supportive image," says Kristiāns Godiņš, Head of Commercial Management at Latvijas Pasts.
Nomination: Trademark of the Year for the European Union

A symbol of energy, power and innovation - PERKONS ENERGY
A source of power and energy does not always have to very large in size and volume. This is proved by Perkons Energy, a company specialising in the development and production of battery systems for unmanned vehicles – air and ground drones, as well as for water platforms. The batteries produced by the company are designed to ensure maximum efficiency, power density and reliability, no matter how extreme the environment or how complex the task is.
Thinking about the trademark's name and registration, the company has been inspired by the Latvian mythology and one of its characters – Pērkons (Thunder). The character represents strength, movement and the power of nature, and these are the qualities embodied in Perkons Energy products.
Artūrs Vītiņš, Business Development Manager, says: “Perkons Energy is a Latvian company whose name and trademark symbolize strength, movement and the power of nature. The word "Pērkons" is rooted in Latvian mythology and symbolises life force and flash of energy, while the word "Energy" precisely describes the company's field of activity – high-performance energy solutions for future technologies.”
The procedure for the LPO’s Trademark of the Year award is organized in two stages. First, once a quarter, experienced LPO experts select four trademarks in the Trademark of the Year for Latvia nomination and four trademarks – in the Trademark of the Year for the European Union nomination that are further forwarded for the second evaluation stage. The winner of the Trademark of the Year 2025 award will be determined among 16 trademarks registered with the LPO under the national procedure and 16 trademarks registered with the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).
