The library collection comprises Latvian and foreign documentation on patents, trademarks, industrial designs and utility models, as well as the official gazettes of the national and regional patent offices.
The library holds collections of patent documents from different countries including the USA patents from 1790, the former USSR author’s certificates from 1924, as well as patent documents from Japan, the Russian Federation, the CIS, and other countries. Inventions collection you can see here.
National IP collections
Information on the latest applications and registered inventions, trademarks and industrial designs can be found in the official gazette “Izgudrojumi, Preču Zīmes un Dizainparaugi” (Inventions, Trademarks and Industrial Designs) issued by the Patent Office of the Republic of Latvia, as well as in the national trademark database and industrial design database.
The Patent and Technology Library is the one holding the complete collection of Latvian patent documents (1993-).
Inventions of Latvian applicants (1940-1993) are found in the library’s collection of USSR author’s certificates. Latvian patents for the time period of 1920-1940 are found in the Latvian State Historical Archive, and the Patent and Technology Library makes available The List of Patent Applications (1920-1940), which contains references to the archival documents, as well as The Patent Classification of Latvian inventions (1920-1940).
The library offers a card file on Changes in the legal protection of industrial property rights in Latvia (1993 - ). It contains information on the legal status of objects of industrial property registered in Latvia and changes in it.
